Definitely the Best Knife on the Market!Grapefruit is actually very easy to slice up even with just a regular straight knife. The problem is since the grapefruit is round, using a regular knife makes it practically impossible to make a perfect cut thus getting as much of the fruit with the cut as possible. I usually just squeeze the rind really hard to extract as much of the juice as possible from the small amount of edible fruit left after cutting. It works well enough. Then I came across the Henckels knife while browsing the 4 for 3 promotion on Amazon. They wound up being even better than I expected. If you eat your fair share of grapefruit than this knife is indispensable. Its curved blade allows you to get as much of the fruit as possible. No more squeezing the rind for me. The fact that it was so cheap is just an added bonus as I would easily have paid double the price.
The bottom line - If your a big grapefruit fan then this knife should have a place in your kitchen. I know a lot of people that eat less fruit than they would like to eat simply because they dont like cutting it up. With tools like this on the market, there should be a lot more people eating fresh fruit as it really does make the chore of cutting it up much much easier. The Henckles Grapefruit knife is simply a must buy for any grapefruit lover!

works greatI use the chef'n tool one or two times a day and it is quick and sharp. I read the 1 star reviews and they said it left part of the fruit behind which is true. But you can minimize the lost fruit by plunging the tool straight down keeping the tip of V the blade as close to the center as possible and then angeling the moving blade part of the tool to line up with the outside edge.
I had the Orka Grapefruit Cutter prior to the chef'n tool and it got more of the fruit, but also more of the peel which I didn't like and the Orka also took longer to core the grapefruit.
My first chef'n tool lasted about 3 years, and I just bought another one. I am trying to keep it cleaner so the sticky dried grape fruit juice doesn't wear out the mechanism as quickly. I also lightly spray the mechanism monthly with PAM to keep it moving freely. (I may try throwing it in the dishwasher)
I don't work for chef'n. I am not being paid for this review. But I do like grapefruit and anyone else who does should try the chef'n tool.
