Not your father's mini-MagliteI've owned a couple of the old incandescent Mini-Maglites over the years, starting when I bought one for my first car when I was 16. The two "AA" Mini-Maglite has always been a great little flashlight for just such a purpose...keeping it in the glovebox just in case you needed one for night time repairs or to find something that either fell under the vehicle or under a seat at night.
The newest generation of LED Mini-Maglite retains the same rugged aluminum exterior as the classic, but adds a modern, bright LED and four separate functions that are activated by twisting the head of the flashlight. This is, by no means, a SureFire or Brite Strike flashlight, but it isn't meant to be, either. I recently purchased a blue-colored two "AA" LED Mini-Maglite to, guess what, keep in the glovebox of my vehicle. The flashlight came complete with nylon holster and two Duracell AA batteries.
Aside from the power savings you get from a LED, the light that is emitted is a very sharp and brilliant blue-white hue, and, at "full" power, is very bright for its size. When you twist the light to the off position and back on, you get a "low" setting which almost mimics the light output of the incandescent Mini-Maglite (which did not have but one setting). Twisting the light off and back on one more times gives you a blink mode, and the last twist off/on function is an automatic "SOS" morse code blink. There is also a "candle" mode, which, when you completely unscrew the head of the flashlight and place it on the tail of the flashlight, the LED is completely exposed, hence the "candle" appearance (minus the flickering). The candle mode is nothing new...you could do it on the old school Mini-Maglites.
I suppose the blink functions could serve a purpose, but it almost seems more gimmicky than anything, simply because, even though the light is bright enough for short distances, needing to visually broadcast a SOS assumes that you would need that SOS to be seen from a great distance. Maybe it would work, but I certainly would not rely solely on a Mini-Maglite while out at sea. In addition, the lack of a push-button switch means that you have to twist through all four modes to get back to the "high" setting. A very minor quirk for an otherwise great little flashlight.
If you need a small, but relatively bright flashlight to keep in your pocket, glovebox, toolbox, or on your belt, this is a well-built piece of equipment and finding batteries for it is a cinch.

| dewalt chargerMy black and decker cordless battery charger stopped working. I was going to replace it with the same until I read a review. It basically stated that the B&D battery charger would die when a bad battery was placed for recharging. Reading further I found mention of the dewalt charger, same maker as B&D, and it would indicate a bad battery (rather than cease to function). So I felt I was making a very good purchase based on this information. Well, I wasn't wrong. As soon as I recieved it, I put it to work. The battery was charged in less than an hour. I feel it was well worth the purchase price as I had two batteries and the older one was failing. Had I gone with the black and decker, without a battery check, the charger would have died and I would have tossed everything,the drill,the batteries and the charger. I feel I made the best purchase for my situation,and saved a bundle. And, I'm glad I read the reviews before making my purchase.

Reliable, comfortable, lightweightI've used this respirator for over a year when using very strong cleaning fluids at home and airbrushing enamel, lacquer, and acrylic paints (some of them highly toxic). It has performed extremely well and has not let me down--I have not smelled or tasted any of the fumes at all. The mask is comfortable to wear for short or medium periods of time (up to two or three hours or so, in my case) and is fairly lightweight--I have not needed to wear it for longer, so I can't say how comfortable it would be after eight hours. It does not obstruct my vision and is compatible with my eyeglasses (a big plus for me). The straps are easy to adjust and allow you to get a good airtight seal while maintaining comfort. Breathing through the filters is a bit hard, but easier than with other respirators I have worn. The only drawback I've had is moisture condensation inside the mask, but I have yet to find a respirator that doesn't have this problem.
