The monitor FAILED in 2 weeks!!!This thing is a piece of trash! I would give it a zero if I could. Within 2 weeks of setting it up, the monitor displayed a bright circle which obscured any view of the baby. All attempts to remedy the image problem were unsuccessful. Turning the brightness down had no effect. The most annoying thing was that this was a Christmas present and it was not set up by our son until late January - after the baby was born. That meant that the return period of 30 days had expired and we could not return the item for a refund. Buy with caution or better still, buy a different monitor. Read more...

Easy Set Up, Great Software, took 2 hours end to end. This is a great system as a beginner system goes. It is limited to 4 cameras which is the only drawback, really making it applicable for home or small business use.
I installed this on the outside of my home.
The system came well packed, directions were detailed and a snap. It took just over 2 hours to get it all set up. I would say that I am expert at handy man type jobs, so if you aren't comfortable on a ladder, with a makita drill and spade bit, better leave installation to an expert.
Picking the location of the cameras was the toughest part, as I wanted them to have the best views and yet somewhat un-obtrusive. We have had 3 friends come over since I installed the system and none of them had any clue there were cameras around.
I have not tried the web set up yet, but will soon.
The software allows you to fast fwd at an 8x speed so you can search easily. The night vision is awesome as well. The cameras work well in ambient lighting, so no issues there either.
I have a friend who is a police officer take a look at the video quality and he said if anything ever happened, the quality is good enough for law enforcement as well.
Bottom line: If you can drill and route wires, you can install this. Maybe the best $500 I have ever spent. Read more...

Very impressed and intend to purchase anotherI know I'm only going to be the second to give it 5 stars, but this was compared to a WVC54 that I was previously using. I really enjoy the PTZ feature, the ability to view the camera through the internet and the ability to allow more than just a couple people to view this camera at one time.
Now... The issues...
The camera requires an "Active X" that for whatever reason Microsoft WILL NOT allow me to down load. I've tried numerous times, but ol' Billy Gates decided I don't know what is best for me and my computer... I ended up having to download Firefox to view the camera. The software on the disk did not solve the problem. The reason for this is the certificates are expired (as of Feb 2010). This is due to a problem on Linksys website.
I love the quality of the camera, the image and the versatile of the camera. I would recommend it, but be prepared for some setup. I wish I could give my opinion with having never used a camera, but I knew what to do with having had two previous Linksys cameras. I have changed my existing TZO account to reflect the settings on this camera (or changed the settings on this camera to match the previous camera, I don't remember) but I'm able to view it with no problem at my [...] account.
Some of the things that I wish was changeable is: the "steps" for up/down left/right could be changed to more or less of a movement.
As a side note. I think you must use the camera via Cat5 cable connection to make any setup changes. I've tried logging in numerous times, but am only successful when I attach the cable. I also was not able to view either camera through a Black Berry (Storm or Curve). I have NO problem viewing any of my Linksys camera's through my iPhone.

One of the best you can buy, but not perfect....After spending hundreds of dollars on various different baby video montitors and systems, I eventually landed on the Lorex. Right out of the box, it was very easy to set up and was much more solid in terms of build quality compared to the other plastic toy-like monitors out there that are horrible. I had it working in about 3 minutes after quickly glancing at the instructions (I also purchased a 2nd monitor system to go with).
It works great, however is not perfect. I was impressed in that it's quiet and you really do not get any interference and I have not noticed any issues with losing internet connection, which I had on previous models. I've come to the realization that no company out there knows how to build a quality baby monitor without having it's issues.... this still remains my #1 ranking, however.....
- Battery life is horrible and you will need to keep it int he cradle often. Just taking it downstairs to have dinner with my wife, I wondered if the battery would run out and don't believe they give you an option to put in AA's either - this should be improved in a future model for sure.
- Navigation of the handheld unit is a bit weird and not the most user friendly, though it's not that complicated. It's annoying that every time you press a button to activate a camera or do anything the unit beeps with every press you make.... this is especially stupid considering I could not lie in bed next to my wife and check on the babies without waking her up with all the beeps of the unit - this is pretty stupid and my biggest issue with the product I think. Why on earth would they not give you the option to make it completely silent if you want to???
Night vision works great, decent sound quality (not the best), and does what it's supposed to do without frequency sounds, and buzzing, etc. I do recommend the unit, however realize none of these little things are perfect including this one. Read more...

No need for Windows - works fine with Mac OS XI have a Mac network, with an Airport, so I was a little worried about setting up the camera. Turns out it was a 3 minute job. The instructions provided by Robert Hoare (earlier review) are mostly correct, except for one important detail: if the camera gets it's initial IP address from your router (via DHCP), it could get any available IP address. Robert said it would default to xxx.xxx.xxx.253. Mine was issued 192.168.0.91. So in my case, the URL for setup was as follows:
[...]
Just type that into your browser and you are up and running. But the trick is finding the correct IP address. On a different network, the camera will probably get a different IP address. With the Airport, you can go to the setup and get the list of connected devices -- I think most routers have a similar feature. Worst case, it would just take a few minutes to run through every possibility, 2-255. Once you connect to the web server that's built into the camera, and set the username/password, you can set a static IP address and whatever else you want to set up. It has a whole bunch of other features. No worries.
Another important detail: I was setting up the BL-C210A, but I suspect they are all similar in this respect. Read more...
