| Technology is Our New Era, Why Not Get A Magazine Based on It?Great magazine for our era of hyperactive technology. Technology is always being updated, and, really, we are still trying to keep up with it. This magazine is helpful in doing so. It covers a variety of topics, and, the content is rich in facts and explanations. This is a great magazine filled with great information for those who love technology and appreciate what is has done for us in the past and the future. Great product, great articles. I'd say buy it if you like the aspect of learning and keeping up with technology and its niches, ideas, inventions and advice.

| Make: Makes My Day!I first found out about Make Magazine while searching for information about robotics online. I came accross complete instructions on building a light-chasing robot out of an old computer mouse on the Make magazine web site--and was immediately hooked.
The pages of these magazines are filled with fascinating projects that use items you can find around the house, at garage sales, or online. The most recent issue I received had a collection of cool spy gadgets to build, from a pressure switch alarm made with a clothes-pin, to a laser communicator that allows you to send your voice over the beam from a laser pointer.
Make: Magazine has articles on projects that other "Makers" have developed, such as a hovercraft chair; and on interesting things that people do, such as the article on the man who collects "Magic Lanterns" from the 1800s. I even find myself looking through the advertising pages--something I never do with other magazines--because the advertisements are for such cool stuff (rare earth magnets, science kits, robot controllers, etc...)!
This is a magazine that anyone who loves to tinker will absolutely love. Read more...

| Something for everyone....Which isn't necessarily good. This magazine tries to appeal to every outdoorsman, from the tree-hugger to the blood-and-gore hunter/fisherman. Lot's of great articles on bird watching and state parks but also deer hunting and bass fishing. If that kind of thing offends you, you'll be better off reading Texas Highways Magazine. Read more...

| How Do I Know Which Magazine To Buy?So, you are interested in astronomy and ready to pick up a subsciption to an astronomy magazine, but are not sure which magazine to purchase? First let me say, "Good for you!" I never go a month without a magazine. It is difficult to keep up to date with the night sky without a monthly guide.
But you are probably trying to decide whether to read "Astronomy" magazine or "Sky & Telescope". These are the two big North American competitors. The good news is, you won't go wrong. Both are excellent magazines and both are of similar quality, size, and usefullness. I regularly read both of them. The difference is a matter of subtle leaning. Astronomy magazine leans a little more toward the amateur. It includes monthly selections that will help a person who is learning the sky. It is a favorite of those who appreciate the beauty of the night sky. Sky & Telescope is a little more technical. It is written for someone who tackles the subject with the passion of a scholar. As I wrote, the difference is subtle. Either way, you won't go wrong.
Let me go out on a limb here. If you are reading this review and trying to decide, you probably will enjoy Astronomy magazine more.
UNLESS . . .
That is, unless you do not own a telescope and do own a pair of binoculars. Sky & Telescope includes a small "Binocular Highlight". It isn't large, less than a page, but it is enough to challenge you.
Which way do I personally lean? Last year I leaned toward Sky & Telescope and picked up occasional Astronomy magazines at the bookstore. This year I subscribe to Astronomy and pick up occasional Sky & Telescopes at the books store. Next year . . .who knows? I keep trying out different magazines and comparing them. I also subscribe to another astronomy magazine.
A final word, there are other serious contenders in the field of astronomy magazines. For example, "Sky at Night" has them both beat, but it costs a lot more, so I don't get it.
