Infinity's precisionI installed these speakers to replace the dry rotting paper cones in my Saab 9-3. The metal supports behind the speaker didn't fit into the holes, so I spent a few hours with a Dremmel tool making them fit. This was my fault, ignoring the fit guides on crutchfield,(that's a good place to check for that sort of thing) but the result was well worth the extra work. These speakers are fantastic. they sound very precise, but still smooth. They are worth their price tag, but buying used is a great option as well. You should always solder your new connections. You should be aware that installing clean, precise speakers will lose you a little bit of the system's bass, so you shouldn't be expect to blow out any windows, but the sound that flows from these things will assure you that your money was well spent. buy them!
These speakers are great!Installed these in an '03 Galant (not easy, had to remove the back seat and roof support covers) and they sound great. Replaced oem Infinity speakers (cheap paper cones) and the sound is very clear and very loud. Could not produce distortion at high volumes (but I'm not a teenager anymore). I don't think you can find a better speaker in this price range.
I like these Guys!!!I absoloutely love these 6x9's They fit perfectly in my '72 Chevelle rear deck and I used the plain black "old school" stamped metal grilles instead to hide what I got and make everything look stock. You already know the Infinity Reference series sound is incredibly accurate -- but I was amazed at the efficiency of 2.65 Ohms! I am running an old stock Pioneer AM/FM/Casette from the 70's without an amp and it sounds louder and cleaner even with the windows down while cruising down the highway. Ordered 2 more sets for my other cars...
Great SpeakersI put these in an old 94 Pontiac to replace some dry rotted 6x9s that had been back there for ever. These little 9623s blew me away. No amp, nothing just right off the factory radio. Deep base and crisp clean highs and mids. You absolutely cannot go wrong with these for the price.
As always, Amazon had them right to my door in less than 48 hours with 5-7 day service. Shipping box was in perfect condition too.
Just make sure you replace the front speakers as well, these reference units just walk all over the weak factory paper ones up front. I picked up a set of the 6 ½ 6022s also, but that is for another review.
Ultra crisp highs...The Infinity Reference 9623i 6" x 9" three-way speakers produce very clean highs along with full sounding mids. They can even handle increased volume to about as high as your ears can handle without any distortion. Overall, these speakers are a great value at the Amazon price of $70.
The only drawback is their power handling. These speakers have a max power input of only 100 Watts, which is lower than many amps that are used in high-powered car audio systems.
However, if you plan on running these speakers off your head unit or a lower powered amplifier (<100 W per channel), you will be very happy with these speakers.
