Why does Amazon call this a 'toy'? It's a game...There isn't much to say.. this game is sweet.. kind of like scrabble with cards. It moves a bit quicker though. Very entertaining. Great game if you love words. The end.
Great, but I recommend a time limit on turnsThis game really is wonderful. Those of you who love Scrabble will take to this like nobody's business. It can feel a bit like you're watching a chess tournament though if you aren't setting time limits on player's turns. I've seen plays take up to 20 minutes in the past. Rushing them actually improves the feel of the game though. Either way, a fun game that you should own.
QuiddlerIf you like Scrabble but don't want to carry it around, this is a great game. It's not easy but it's not painfully difficult, and it's fun. Great for vacation since it's easy to pack (and goes well with a glass of wine)!
More fun than any other word gameLove this game. First played it on an Elderhostel Trip, and I have now given several away to friends. Great for groups of mixed abilities, as there is enough luck involved to help those who are less Scrabble Savvy.
Addictive Family Fun!After playing Quiddler at my Aunts house (in another state - while on vacation), I ordered one for my Mom for Mother's Day. Then, because it is such an addictive game, I ordered one for my husband and myself. Now that my friends have played it, they also want a Quiddler game. We really enjoy playing this game and I love seeing all the words my smart 8 year old can come up with. I highly encourage people (especially with children) to purchase this game. You will want to play it over and over.....never wanting the fun to end!

Editorial ReviewThe rules are brutal, but the rewards are worth it in this card game that works a bit like Scrabble. Although there is a solitary version of the game for one player, you can play with up to eight. Cards containing letters of the alphabet and special combinations of letters are dealt in increasing number each time the dealer completes a round. Once you've collected your share, you can discard and pick up a new card with each turn. The object is to turn all the letters in your possession into dictionary-proof words while leaving one stray card as a final discard. You want to be the first to accomplish the goal, of course, but there is a scoring system that makes the play competitive for everyone. One nice element is the cards themselves: the letter design is based on beautiful artwork from Celtic manuscripts. This card game is a 1999 Parents' Choice Silver Award winner. --Tom Keogh
