These guys came from San Francisco?Who would have thought? To me, they sound like a group that should have come from Louisiana or Southern Mississippi because of their deep Delta bluesy swamp rock sound.
This CD could have been improved just a little better. I see that they gave us the whole version of "I've Heard It Through The Grapevine", but I really missed having the full version of "Suzie Q" as I've always known it. I've never heard it cut short like it was here, and there is no excuse for it. It would have fit on this CD, in addition, to having even one more bonus track, like "Born on a Bayou" or "Midnight Special".
Oh well, I guess I'll just take what they give us and collect my own perceived shortcomings and make my own second Chronicles CD. The second Chronicles CD that they released, well, I could laugh. The second half of "Suzie Q?" What a joke! I'll make my own 2 disc "Best of Creedance Clearwater Revival" because I do need "Ramble Tamble", "Keep on Chooglin'", and even, the two other tracks that I just mentioned, plus there are other great tracks. Hell, I could even make a second collection that includes John Fogerty's "Rock and Roll Girls", "Centerfold", and "The Old Man Down the Road" from 1984. It's so easy to make a second CD of CCR to complement this release of Chronicles. So, thanks for the effort anyway.
Even better than expected!Got this today-I agree with all the other reviewers that it's great and you should get one for your kids! Brought back a lot of memories and I got to listen to some songs I had forgotten CCR did. Going to listen to it again now.
Born On The Bayou?They should have left out tracks #7, 15, 19, and included a major hit, Born On The Bayou, and a couple of other of CCR's big hits that should be here. But apparently the plan was to sell a follow-up album, Chronicle #2, along with it's share of filler tracks. This one is still worthy of 5-stars.
